Questions, answered straight.
Is this licensed insurance advice?
No — and we'll keep saying it. Lumen Health Navigation provides navigation and advocacy guidance only. We are not a licensed insurance agent, we don't sell insurance, and we don't enroll you in plans. We help you understand your options, read your paperwork, and prepare to act. For licensed insurance advice, talk to a licensed insurance agent.
Do you give medical advice?
No. We never tell you what medical care to get — that's between you and your doctor. Our lane is the coverage and paperwork side: what's covered, what a bill means, how to appeal a denial, how to find in-network care.
My claim was denied. What are my rights?
A denied claim is not the final word. You have the right to appeal your insurer's decision: first an internal appeal with the insurer (file within 180 days of your denial notice), and if that doesn't resolve it, an independent external review — whose decision your insurer is legally required to accept. We can help you read the denial letter and prepare the paperwork. Sources: HealthCare.gov.
When is Medicare Open Enrollment?
Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7 each year, with changes effective January 1. If you're new to Medicare, your initial enrollment window is different — that's a common source of confusion, and exactly the kind of thing we walk through. Source: Medicare.gov.
Is there really free help for Medicare?
Yes. The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling in every state — the counselors don't sell insurance and aren't paid per enrollment. Find yours through Medicare.gov. We'll happily point you there for straight plan comparison — and we're here when you need someone to handle a live case with bills and denials.
What does it cost?
A single session (1 hour) is $195. A five-session package (5 hours, ~18% off) is $795, with unused hours expiring after 6 months. A family plan is available on request. Every case starts with a free 15-minute fit call, and you get a written scope and quote before anything begins. See Services & Pricing.
How do sessions work?
Video or phone, usually about an hour. We're based in Atlanta, Georgia, and work with clients virtually. You'll leave each session with clear next steps in writing, and we follow up on open items until your case has an answer.
What should I have ready?
Your insurance card and plan documents, any denial letters or explanations of benefits, bills you're questioning, and your doctors' names plus regular prescriptions. A messy pile is fine — organizing it is part of the job.
Do you work with families and caregivers?
Yes — including caregivers managing a parent's Medicare or a family member's bills. One organized file, one person who knows the case, so you don't have to hold it all in your head.
